Orion Wide Field

2015-12-31 Orion Region 2min 18mm f/2.8 ISO 1000

Testing my new Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer camera mount, last night I achieved what appeared to be a perfect polar alignment and took this very wide-field image showing the constellations of Taurus (left), Orion, Monoceros and Canis Major.

Despite some high level cloud, the Orion Nebula (M42) and the main stars of Orion are clearly visible , as is Sirius (the brightest star in the sky, right). The fuzzy Rosette Nebula NGC2244 appears faintly at lower centre.
