2011 – Orion

The Orion Nebula, Messier 42, is a bright emission nebula, visible to the naked eye above Orion’s Belt, here in the Southern Hemisphere.

Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star, the Horsehead Nebula is a dark nebula (Barnard 33) and the Flame Nebula is an emission nebula (NGC 2024) near Alnitak, which is one of the three Belt Stars.
