I was hoping for an astronomy session under the stars this particular night – but during the day the weather outlook changed from “clear” to “severe storms” and the result was a light show of a very different kind, lasting two hours.

I was disappointed about the astronomy cancellation but – not to worry – imaging lightning strikes is my second photographic passion!

The storm heads towards us from the West.
A double strike as the storm progresses.
Did this strike really turn at right angles – or was it just a matter of perspective?
